History
Ford Motor Company is an American multinational automaker that designs, develops, and manufactures automobiles and commercial vehicles. Founded by Henry Ford in 1903, Ford is the second largest American automaker and the fifth largest in the world. Unlike its domestic competitor, GM, Ford has a large presence also in Europe.
History
The Henry Ford Company was established in 1901; after Ford's departure, this became the Cadillac Motor Company. Ford re-established the Ford Motor Company in 1903. One of the most important vehicles in automotive history, the Model T, was introduced in 1908. Mass production allowed millions to be sold over its two-decade-long production run.
Like other American automakers, Ford enjoyed commercial success throughout most of the 20th century. At one point, it owned, besides the Lincoln brand, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Mercury. The first four have since been sold, while the Mercury brand was discontinued.
Current Lineup
Ford has completely different vehicle models in different regions. Its most well-known models are the Mustang pony car and its light-duty pickup trucks.
