Product Overview

Ford Explorer Mk6 (chassis code U625) is a large crossover in production from 2019. It is available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 2.3 to 3.3 liters.
Compared to its predecessor, the Mk6 Explorer has a more athletic exterior styling. Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, will appreciate the approach, departure, and breakover angles that the chassis offers.
The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality. Utility-minded owners will love the 2485L (88cu-ft) cargo space.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Ford Explorer 6 uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The 2020 Ford Explorer represents a nice improvement over its predecessor. It's not a massive leap forward in any way, but that's because the fifth-gen model was already decent. The Hybrid is pretty, too: $52,280 to start or $57,975 all loaded up like the one you see here.
Pros
  • Excellent off-road capability
  • Lots of cargo space
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Loud infotainment system
  • Expensive for a midsize SUV

digitaltrends[2]

Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The 2020 Ford Explorer has many rivals, but we've narrowed it down to the top competitors. Dodge Durango is the only other mass-market three-row SUV based on a rear-wheel drive platform. Honda Pilot is very nice to drive, although even the base four-cylinder Explorer offers more power. Subaru Ascent offers more passenger space than the Explorer.
Pros
  • Powerful hybrid powertrain
  • Excellent off-road capability
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • No automatic transmission
  • No hybrid option

pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The 2020 Ford Explorer Platinum Hybrid gets good fuel economy along with its confident performance. A larger grille, longer headlamps, beefed-up wheel arches and a more sloping roofline give the 2020 Explorer a sportier exterior than its predecessor. It's powered by an upgraded version of Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system.
Pros
  • Powerful V6 engine
  • Excellent fuel economy
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • No onboard Wi-Fi
