Description
Peugeot is a French brand owned by the multinational automaker
Stellantis, the result of merger between Fiat Chrysler
Automobiles (FCA) and PSA Group. Currently, it manufactures a range of compact and subcompact hatchbacks and crossovers. Before the merger with FCA, Peugeot vehicles and Citroen vehicles shared platforms; we may expect further platform sharing with Fiat in the coming years.
The brand can trace its roots over two century to a series of industrial businesses prior to the invention of automobile. Around the turn of the 20th century, Peugeot started building relatively affordable cars. It was in this time that it started using the X0Y nomenclature that lasts to this day.
With the took over of Citroen in the 1970s, the two formed PSA, which sold primarily compact and subcompact vehicles to working-class Europeans and to the developing world.
