Product Overview

Peugeot 508 II (chassis code R83) is a mid-size lift-back sedan in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.2 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to the original 508, the Mk2 has a more upscale exterior styling and improved interior quality. For the first time in a long time, a Peugeot has independent rear suspensions. The 1.6 PSE variant even has decent performance.
The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The 508 PSE is a bold move for Peugeot. It's exciting for us car fans to see a brand push forward with performance models when so many are shying away. But it also seems risky, especially when it pins itself against well-regarded rivals, such as the Volvo S60 T8 Polestar. The cockpit is cosseting in the way one expects from higher-end cars.
Pros
  • Powerful petrol engine
  • Stylish looks
  • Good infotainment system
Cons
  • Expensive compared to rivals

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Peugeot 508 Fastback is one of the more appealing models for sale in the family car sector. It has an attractive interior that gives off a sporting vibe, and even in entry-level specification has a wide range of equipment. Despite its generous proportions, it's not the roomiest machine in its class.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good range of engines
  • Decent fuel economy
Cons
  • Not the roomiest

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
There's 222bhp on offer from the combined 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder and single e-motor when the two work together. Peugeot claims a top speed of 84mph in electric-only mode and says the 508 HYbrid is capable of up to 39 miles of range from the battery. Unlike the 3008 and 5008 hybrids, there's no all-wheel drive version here.
Pros
  • Sleek styling
  • Powerful electric motor
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • No all-wheel drive option
