History
Venus Optics is a Chinese manufacturer of photographic and cine lenses, which are marketed under the Laowa ("old frog" in Chinese) brand.
Laowa lenses are typically manual focus lenses with a traditional, full-metal construction. They do not have contacts for communication with the camera body and, thereby, cannot transfer EXIF data. To work with in-body image stabilization, it is usually necessary to manually select the correct focal length for the best results.
Like many third-party lens manufacturers, Venus Optics produces lenses for most popular lens mounts, including Sony E-mount, Fuji G-mount and X-mount, Nikon Z-mount, Canon M-mount and R-mount, and MFT-mount.
