Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF is the world's first full-frame 35mm lens to feature a f/0.95 maximum aperture. This bright aperture affords the photographer the ability to create shots with shallow depth of field and/or to shoot in extreme low-light conditions.
Further, Laowa boasts high contrast and resolution from wide open for the Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF, a claim that we should probably take with a grain a salt. Nevertheless, image samples provided by Laowa as well as initial review suggest that this lens is more than sufficiently sharp for real-life photography use, and that it produces an exceptionally smooth bokeh.
An uncommon feature for manual focus lenses but present in the Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF is that the lens is internal-focusing. This means that by turning the focus ring the photographer is moving a focusing group of optical elements inside the lens, while the front of the lens does not protrude. The benefit of this design that is the lens may have better weather resistance, though Laowa does not make any claim on that front (and the lens is not sealed).
Together with the Argus 33mm f/0.95 CF APO, this lens forms Laowa's new flagship Argus-line of photographic lenses.
