History
Citroen is a French brand owned by the multinational automaker Stellantis, which was the result of merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and PSA Group. Founded over a century ago, Citroen pioneered many technologies in the automotive industry, including the use of double chevron gears that gave Citroen its logo, the adoption of unibody construction, four wheel independent suspension, and FWD by Traction Avant, and hydraulic suspension systems.
As France deindustrialized, however, Citroen's standing in the automotive industry declined. More recently, it has been manufacturing compact and subcompact vehicles with often unappealing quality.
A new sub-brand, DS, was created on the basis of Citroen vehicles, obviously in an attempt to create a "French Lexus". So far, however, success has not been obtained.
