Product Overview

Citroen C1 II 5-door is an entry-level subcompact hatchback in production from 2014 to 2022. It is available with a range of inline-3 engines that displaced 1.0 to 1.2 liters.
Compared to the 3-door, the 5-door C1 II is slightly less ugly. Still, it is horridly underpowered and under-built.
Citroen has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.
Another plus is the small 9.6m (31.5ft) turning circle.

External Reviews

autoexpress[1]

Reviewer score 54% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Citroen C1 makes a good first impression with its distinctive styling – a result of quirky split-level headlights and an extensive range of contrasting colour and trim options. Despite styling which still manages to look fresh, the Mk2 C1 carries over a great deal from the previous model. Refinement is better than before, although the engine emits a typically audible three-pot thrum when pushed, and the ride can get quite unsettled. The rear seats and boot are quite cramped compared to rivals, too.
Pros
  • Cheap to run
  • Decent fuel economy
  • Good value special editions
Cons
  • Ride can get unsettled
  • No automatic option

carmagazine[2]

Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The new Citroen C1 is based on a modified version of the old model. It's offered in both three- and five-door body styles. There are two engines – a Polish-made 998cc with 80bhp, or the version we're driving here, with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder made by PSA in France. While the gearshift in our five-speed manual is a little notchy and lacks precision, the C1's ride is supple.
Pros
  • Fantastic looks
  • Fun to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of headroom
  • Uncomfortable to drive
