Jeep Wrangler (Unlimited) SUV (4th gen, JL)

MSRP 26679 USDNEX score 78%

Product Overview

Jeep Wrangler (JL) is the 4th-generation of the popular off-road SUV. The most capable that the SUV-focused marque has ever built, the JL Wrangler also delivers the highest levels of comfort and handling for everyday use.
Jeep Wrangler (JL) offers two four-wheel drive, active, on-demand systems: Command-Trac and Rock-Trac. It also features next-generation Dana axles, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, Trac-Lok limiteds-lip differential, and an electronic front sway-bar disconnect.
Retaining its body-on-frame structure and iconic Wrangler design, including the open-air freedom that it offers, the new Wrangler seamlessly integrates modern features: For example, the all-new Sky One-Touch powertop allows occupants to retract the full-length open canvas roof with the push of a button. A new Sunrider soft top and a lighter Freedom Top, which is a removable, three-panel hard top, are also available.
In November 2020, Jeep has announced that it is launching the Wrangler Rubicon 392 for the 2021 model year.

autoexpress[1]

Sentiment Score 78%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
There are two new engines, one a 2.0-litre petrol with 268bhp and 400Nm. The interior has also been comprehensively reworked to make it more appealing to a broader audience, reckons Jeep. There are three trim levels and two body styles to choose from; Overland, Sahara and Rubicon, all of which come with either two doors or four.

Pros
  • Excellent off-road capability
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent on-road refinement
Cons

Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The top-of-the-line Rubicon model has all the off-road goodies I could want. Front and rear locking differentials, full skid plate protection, rock rails and a 4:1 low-range gear ratio. But that doesn't mean the Rebelle Rally is a walk in the park.

Pros
  • Best-in-class off-road performance
  • Powerful engine
  • Excellent fuel economy
Cons
  • Lack of storage cubbies

cnet[3]

Sentiment Score 79%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The diesel Jeep puts out a whopping 442 pound-feet of torque. Four-wheel drive high is enough to scamper up the rocks in the Wrangler diesel. As with other Wranglers, the diesel version is available with a decent amount of driver-assistance tech.

Pros
  • Gorgeous off-road performance
  • Powerful diesel engine
  • Easy-to-use Uconnect infotainment system
Cons
  • Expensive compared to other Wrangler models

cnet[4]

Sentiment Score 68%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The EPA says this Jeep should return 22 miles per gallon in city driving and 29 mpg on the highway. A speedy and smooth stop-start system undoubtedly helps bolster that around-town figure. The Wrangler's chassis may have more in common with a covered wagon than more "modern" vehicles.

Pros
  • Powerful diesel engine
  • Superb infotainment system
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Sub-par fuel economy
  • Cramped back seats

I love driving my Wrangler with the top down. In cities, it's a cool cabriolet with lots of space but very easy to park. But it belongs to the nature.
