Jeep Wrangler Continues to Be Recognized As One of the Best 4x4 Off-Road SUVs with Off-Road Awards and SEMA Awards

For the tenth year running, the Jeep Wrangler received the "4x4/SUV of the Year" award at SEMA. It has been the sole recipient since the inauguration of the SEMA Awards in 2010.

In a similar fashion, UK's 4x4 Magazine has again acknowledged the Wrangler by awarding the new model the Special Off-Road Award again.

The JL Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited (4-door) retains the body-on-frame construction and solid axles that the model has been known for. It features two different four-wheel-drive systems that buyers can choose from: Command-Trac and Rock-Trac. Command-Trac is available on Sport and Sahara trim levels, while Rock-Trac is standard on the Rubicon. Both systems utilize the new Selec-Trac full-time two-speed transfer case for a continuous monitoring and management of power.

Command-Trac features a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio, heavy-duty Dana front and rear axles with 3.45 rear axle ratio for the petrol version, and 3.73 for the diesel versions. It has four different driving modes plus neutral: 2H, 4H AUTO, 4H Part-Time, N, 4L. Shift-on-the-fly technology allows shifting between 2WD and 4WD High at speeds up to 72km/h.

Rock-Trac 4x4 system features a two-speed transfer case with 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio and front and rear heavy-duty Dana 44 axles and Tru-Lok electric front- and rear-axle lockers. The final drive ratios are 4.1 for petrol models and 3.73 for diesel versions.

Rubicon models also offer added articulation and suspension travel with an electronic sway-bar disconnect that allows the front sway bar to be disconnected.
