History

Jeep is a brand of FCA US LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Italian-American corporation Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Its linup consists solely of utility vehicles: crossovers, SUVs, and a pickup.

History

During WWII, "jeep" became synonymous with the light military 4x4, arguably the world's first mass-produced 4WD SUVs. The marque was officially launched with the CJ ("Civilian Jeep") towards the end of the war.
Originally owned by Willys-Overland, the Brand changed hands over the decades until its then-owner AMC was acquired by Chrysler in 1987. The Wrangler series replaced the Jeep CJ in 1986 and has been in continuous production ever since.
