Jeep's First Plug-in Hybrids, Renegade 4xe and Compass 4xe Become Available in Europe
Jeep's first plug-in hybrid vehicles, the Renegade 4xe and the Compass 4xe are now available for order in Europe this month. They are the pioneers of the brand's drive to electrify its lineup in the EMEA region.
The Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain
The new 4xe models paris a 1.3-litre turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine that drives the front wheels with an electric motor sitting between, and driving, the rear wheels. The electric motor is powered by an 11.4 kWh battery that can be charged while driving or via an external power outlet.
The 1.3T engine produces 130 hp (Limited) or 180 hp (Trailhawk, S), while the electric motor generates 60 hp, making the combined output 190 or 240 hp. Together, they propel the vehicles to 100 km/h from standing still in around 7.5 seconds.
Both 4xe models have three driving modes, including the "Electric" mode ideal for city centers.
