Product Overview

The 2021 Lenovo Legion 5 15" gaming laptop is powered by up to the latest AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics. It shares the same design with the 2020 model, including the dimensions and the 16:9 aspect ratio.
Like the 2020 model, the new Legion 5 15" is fronted with a FHD IPS display. However, a 165Hz panel becomes available with under 3ms response time. Aesthetically, the new Legion 5 comes with two different shades of colors, Phantom Blue and Stingray White, and a new optional Blue keyboard backlight.
Alongside the 15" Legion 5, Lenovo also refreshed the 17" model at CES 2021.
Other Legion models unveiled at the same time include the redesigned 16" Legion 5 Pro, 16" Legion 7, and 15" Legion Slim 7. All models are powered by AMD, while Intel-powered models are introduced in May 2021.

Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The gaming performance of the Legion 5 15 is very good and even demanding titles runs smoothly at the highest settings. The two fans are running all the time, independent of the power settings, and you can hear the murmur in quiet environments. We would have liked to see deactivated fans, especially in Eco mode. The speaker system could have been better; there is hardly any bass and the overall sound quality is just average.
Pros
  • Matte 165 Hz panel
  • Fast 165 Hz display
  • Fast WQHD panel
  • Long battery runtimes
Cons
  • Very loud fans
  • No SD card reader
