cameralabs[1]
Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)The A7r Mark IV is an impressive body, with its new 61 Megapixel sensor leap-frogging its high-res rivals to date and overall speed and handling that could easily tempt D850 owners. It has the potential to deliver portraits, landscapes and architectural images that approach medium format quality, while also having the speed and croppability for distant sports and wildlife. I'm still frustrated by the woefully underused touchscreen and disappointed there’s no 4k at 60p nor any video in 10p.
Pros
- Superb autofocus
- Superb image stabilisation
- Great battery life
Cons
- No 4k at 60p
- Underused touchscreen
digitalpicture[2]
Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Sony a7R IV is a highly-refined, feature-packed, extremely competent, well-constructed little camera that delivers sharp, incredibly-high-resolution images with impressive dynamic range. The Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens is the best general purpose lens available for the a 7R IV. For longer focal length needs often encountered by professionals, the Sony FE 70-200 lens is a great choice. This is a best-in-class-feature-packed camera and the price seems very justified.
Pros
- Sharp, incredibly-high-resolution images
- Compact and well-constructed
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- Pricey compared to other EOS models
digitaltrends[3]
Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)The A7R IV keeps the same continuous shooting rate as the lower-resolution Mark III. With the Mark IV you no longer have to go into the menu system to enable Eye AF. For the first time, Real-Time Eye AF is also available in movie mode. It's not foolproof and you still have to use some skill for the best results.
Pros
- Excellent autofocus performance
- New Bionz X processor
- Real-Time Eye AF and Real-Time Tracking
Cons
- Can be unforgiving
- No RAW support
pcmag[4]
Reviewer score 94% (normalized by Neofiliac)Sony's latest mirrorless camera offers the best autofocus performance you'll find in any full-frame model. It tracks subjects with tenacity, and with bursts of up to 10fps, you can snap fleeting moments of action. The body feels right at home in my hands, and the grip is comfortable.
Pros
- Top-of-the-line autofocus performance
- Superb ergonomics
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- Not as fast as the a7R III
techradar[5]
Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)Sony's A7R IV is the latest model in the A7 line of interchangeable-lens cameras. It has a new 63MP sensor that can output images of up to 61MP. Sony claims to have achieved this level of resolution in the U.S. for the first time. SteadyShot Inside image stabilization has also been incorporated into the body.
Pros
- Super-high-resolution sensor
- Improved image stabilization
- Improved battery life
Cons
- No UHSII card slot
- No 4K video recording
trustedreviews[6]
Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)Sony’s autofocus system has long been among the best around, and here you get the real-time tracking previously seen in the A6400 and A9 models. This mode is superb for shooting a moving subject, as it’ll keep a steady lock on people and animals. The camera also does video recording, of course, and its 4K 24/30fps quality is superb.
Pros
- Incredible detail
- Excellent autofocus system
- Excellent video recording
Cons
- 60-megapixel sensor isn’t for everyone
