Summary

The Samsung Odyssey G9 is a super ultrawide gaming monitor with a curved 49-inch screen that gets incredibly bright while delivering smooth motion and vivid color. The monitor's Nvidia G-Sync Compatible adaptive sync appears to work very well, keeping up with frame rates that exceed the monitor's native refresh rate. It has a VA panel, but its contrast ratio is only decent, making blacks look grayish in the dark. The Samsung has a bigger screen for a more immersive gaming experience.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 Gaming Monitor packs in a lot, and considering its wallet-withering price of nearly $1,700, this is a good thing. The black bezel along the top and sides of the screen is thin (less than one-eighth of an inch), but the bottom bezel is considerably wider (just over 0.5 inch) The curved casing is white plastic with a sci-fi–style design.

trustedreviews[7]

Sentiment Score[*] 76%
Reviewers from Trustedreviews have found the following[***]:
The Samsung Odyssey G9 is one of the most ambitious gaming monitors on the market. The 49-inch diagonal dominates any desk, and it's paired with a 32:9 aspect ratio, a vast 5120 x 1440 resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate and the 1000R curve. Build quality is rock-solid, and the panel has two DisplayPort connectors, an HDMI port and two USB 3.0 ports. As with the G7, though, the G9 does have physical disappointments. There's no USB Type-C or Thunderbolt and the lighting is underwhelming.

  • Super-wide 32:9 panel
  • Great for racing games
  • Bright 5120 x 1440 display
