Canon's EOS Webcam Utility Beta Now Supports Apple's Mac OS
A month after the initial release of the EOS Webcam Utility Beta software for Windows, Canon has brought the ability to turn its DSLR, mirrorless, and compact cameras into webcams to Mac OS users.
Why Does This Matter?
Most webcams today are HD (720p) only, usually with fixed focus. In comparison, modern digital cameras can handle FHD, if not 4K, with ease. Their large 35mm full-frame or APS-C sensors, much more powerful lenses, and smooth autofocus, including face- and eye-detection and tracking, deliver video quality far superior to traditional webcams.
