Product Overview

Canon EOS M200 is a affordable mirrorless camera in the Canon EF-M-mount system. Introduced by Canon in 2019, it comes with an APS-C sensor with 24 MP (6000 x 4000) resolution.
The camera has a poor battery life, and a second or third battery may be needed to get you through the day. The Canon EOS M200's 6.1 fps burst rate limits its use for certain types of photography, but it is hardly something that most photographers should worry about.
The Canon EOS M200 comes with 143 autofocus points.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Canon EOS M200 is an entry-level mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with a 24 Megapixel APSC sensor. It inherits the same body with its tilting touchscreen and the same sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF for confident focusing whether shooting photos or 1080p video. The M200 also inherits two small but useful features from the G7XIII: a small G-screen when it’s facing you for vlogging and support for vertical video in apps like Instagram stories and IGTV.
Pros
  • 24 Megapixel APSC sensor
  • Tilting touchscreen
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF
Cons
  • No built-in stabilisation
  • No 4k video

digitalpicture[2]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitalpicture have found:
The M200 is positioned at the lower end of Canon's lineup and its price reflects this position. The small size and weight combined with a very adequate feature set make this camera a perfect travel companion. While a complete beginner can use this camera to capture high-quality images, the camera's controls provide a solid path for advancement in photography skills.
Pros
  • Large, high-resolution APS-C format image sensor
  • Easy-to-use controls
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No electronic viewfinder

digitaltrends[3]

Reviewer score 66% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
Autofocus speed and accuracy is what we'd expect from a $550 camera. Tracking and eye autofocus worked well with video, which is a nice plus. While the M200 may feel like working with a smartphone, the 24-megapixel APS-C sensor means image quality is much better.
Pros
  • Fast autofocus
  • Easy to use
  • 4K video
Cons
  • No headphone or microphone jacks
  • No 4K crop

dpreview[4]

Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from dpreview have found:
Canon EOS M200 is a capable and affordable option that's fun to use and churns out nice photographs without much fuss. Autofocus system is generally capable, but it still lags and hunts a bit more than I'd expect it to in low light. 4K video is nice-to-have, but the crop is limiting and almost begs for the Canon EF-M 11-22mm.
Pros
  • Good image quality
  • Easy to use
  • Excellent touchscreen interface
Cons
  • Slow autofocus
  • No wireless charging

rtings[5]

Reviewer score 48% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Canon M200 has a very good image quality, and its screen is bright enough to be readable even in direct sunlight. While it's very portable, it doesn't have a hand grip, which can be inconvenient for some users. Its video autofocus system does an amazing job tracking moving subjects in FHD, but it struggles a bit when recording in 4k.
Pros
  • Good image quality
  • Great autofocus feature
  • Very good image quality, even in direct sunlight
  • Good image
  • Good photo
Cons
  • No hand grip
  • Only one continuous shooting speed
  • Can't be strapped onto a helmet
