Product Overview

The facelifted Bentley Bentayga delivers updated interior and exterior designs, new infotainment system, and powertrain changes.

Exterior

On the outside, the facelifted Bentayga continues Bentley's new design language adopted by the company since the model's initial debut five years ago (see Continental GT and Flying Spur). This includes more upright matrix grille, intelligent LED matrix headlamp, and a more aggressive front bumper up front; redesigned tailgate with new lamps, repositioned license plate (to the bumper), and a 20mm increase to the rear track width complete the new aesthetic at the rear.

Interior

Inside, the new Bentayga introduces dark tint diamond brushed aluminium trim. The updates seats offer more leg room and are even more comfortable. The center fascia and steering wheel are updated to work with the new infotainment system, which features a 10.9-inch display with edge-to-edge design. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard.
The facelifted Bentayga also comes with upgraded Four Seat Comfort Specification: The maximum recline of the rear seats has been increased from 32° to 40°, and the fore and aft travel has been increased by 35mm. Rear seat ventilation, a selection of six different massage programmes, and a winged comfort headrest have also been added.

Powertrain

The diesel V8 and W12 versions are gone, leaving the facelifted Bentayga with the base twin-turbo V8 and the plug-in hybrid (V6). The W12-powered Bentayga Speed will remain.

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
The Bentayga is one of the most versatile vehicles you can buy at any money. It can emulate the refinement of a limousine fit for royalty and a few minutes later to do the Unimog thing over battlefield terrain. At one end of the dynamic spectrum, its performance is never compromised by what it does at the other.

Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Excellent off-roading
Cons
  • Not the most refined

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Bentayga Hybrid's main source of propulsion is a single-turbo 3.0-litre V6 that can also be found in a variety of other, rather less expensive cars within the VW empire. This is mated to 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that boosts the V6's outputs from around 340bhp/450Nm to 443bhp and 700Nm combined. There are three modes; EV, Hybrid and Hold. In EV you use only the battery; in Hybrid the car works out which is the most efficient combination of propulsion, taking into account your driving style. In Hold it works out how to keep as much charge as possible in the battery so that, in town, you can switch to EV mode and still have plenty of charge left.

Pros
  • Powerful V6
  • Comfortable ride
  • Excellent infotainment system
Cons
  • No fast charge capability
  • No hybrid option

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Bentayga SUV has been brought more into line with the family look. The front, which gains higher-set headlights and a larger, more upright grille, is still best described as imposing. The only engine available at launch is the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which is essentially unaltered from before.

Pros
  • Brilliant new looks
  • Fantastic cabin quality
Cons
  • Nothing in particular

Bentley's new Bentayga Hybrid has a 3.0-liter V6 engine and 94-kilowatt electric motor. The battery pack can be recharged from a Level 2 (240-volt) outlet in 2.5 hours. The suspension does a fine job of ironing out road imperfections, even on 22-inch wheels.

Pros
  • Powerful V8 engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Easy-to-use infotainment system
Cons
  • Not as fun to drive as V8- or W12-powered models
  • Only 16 miles of electric range

The big Bentayga is a pretty agile thing, despite its size and weight. Bentley Dynamic Ride 48-volt antiroll bars keep this big boy flat as a pancake through corners. The 10.9-inch touchscreen runs a reskinned version of Audi's MIB3 software, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto.

The Bentayga Hybrid's greatest asset isn't its fuel efficiency or performance – it's the way it drives. Its copious torque and smooth, quiet operation are exactly the qualities this revered British automaker is known for. A full recharge from a standard household outlet takes 7.5 hours. Bentley offers a three-year warranty with unlimited mileage.
