Product Overview

Audi A3 Sportback (Typ 8V) facelift is a compact hatchback in production from 2016 to 2020. It was available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to the pre-facelift model, the facelifted Mk3 A3 Sportback has a revised light design (unsurprisingly) and further-downsized engine lineup. Unlike the 3-door model, which was discontinued when more ridiculous emission standards were imposed, the Sportback started using more complex engines. With this move, Audi started naming its vehicles with referring to the displacement of the engine.
The plug-in hybrid drivetrain can help the owner save on fuel and car tax, though those who plan on keeping the car after warranty should be mindful of the complexity. Its official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.

External Reviews

Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The 2018 Black Edition is the flagship of the A3 Sportback range. It is the second car in the Volkswagen Group to get the new 148bhp, 1.5 TFSI petrol engine. Going from 0-62mph takes 8.2 seconds so this is no race car. The interior is roomy enough but not huge, though front seat accommodation does have a snug, cockpit-like feel.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good range of driver assistance options
Cons
  • Lack of standard equipment
