Product Overview

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 is a 13.3-inch dual-screen laptop designed for business users. Besides a WQXGA IPS display, it also sports a 12-inch e-Ink secondary display on the top cover.
Compared to the first-gen model from 2020, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 increases the size of the e-Ink panel to cover 68% of the body (up from 48%) and with it the resolution to WQXGA. The chassis also shrank in the process, thanks to the 16:10 aspect ratio of the displays, increasing the screen-to-body ratio to 90% from the 78% of the 2020 model.
Thanks to the 11th-gen Intel CPU, it also comes with two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Lenovo has also endowed the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 with PCIe Gen4 SSD.
There is an integrated Lenovo digitizer that can be stored inside the body of the laptop.
The ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 is compatible with the new ThinkPad USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 docks.
Alongside the ThinkBook 16p, Lenovo also introduced ThinkBook 13x, ThinkBook 14p Gen 2, and ThinkBook 16p Gen 2 at CES 2021.

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 has decent battery life for a thin and light laptop. If you don’t care about the e-ink display, then the ThinkBook 13s is a better choice. The XPS 13 is no more expensive while offering a superior and better-looking build, it’s faster and longer-lasting depending on the display.
Pros
  • Very thin and light
  • 3.5K OLED display
  • Excellent battery life
  • Great e-ink display
Cons
  • Lacks connectivity
  • No Thunderbolt 3

Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus G2 is stylish, innovative, and unique. It's designed to appeal to mobile professionals, students, and folks looking for a solid digital sketchpad or e-reader. While the lid-mounted E-Ink display is a definite conversation starter, it’s a bonafide workhorse thanks to its Core i7 processor.
Pros
  • Lid-mounted E-Ink display
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • Mediocre performance
  • Grainy webcam

notebookcheck[3]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen2 is a high-quality notebook. However, it is only worth buying if the E-ink display is also used in everyday life. With two Thunderbolt ports, modern transfer standards are available, but USB-A and HDMI now have to be dispensed with. In return, Lenovo's notebook is now stronger and lighter and slimmer.
Pros
  • Full-size E-ink display
  • Good battery life
  • Very good Essentials score
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3

pcmag[4]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
Mark 10 simulates a variety of real-world productivity and content-creation workflows. The ThinkBook Plus showed average battery life for an ultraportable laptop. The main screen is rated for 400 nits of brightness and 100% of the sRGB gamut. Adding an E Ink display on the back of a business laptop is a cool idea.
Pros
  • E Ink display on the back of a business laptop
  • High-quality build quality
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3 or USB Type-C ports
  • Only one USB-C port
