Product Overview

LG NanoCell 90 (Nano90) is a premium model in LG's 2021 NanoCell 4K TV lineup with full-array dimming. Like last year's model, its features LG's nanoparticle filter that modifies the RGB wavelengths to produce richer, more realistic colors.
The NanoCell 91 (Nano91) is the same TV with a different center stand available in select markets. It is otherwise identical to the Nano90.
The Nano90 features even thinner bezels compared to its predecessor. It is powered by LG's latest α7 Gen4 AI Processor 4K, through which it supports a full set of digital image and audio processing protocols such as Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos. It also supports Filmmaker mode as well as a wide range of HDR formats.
Now more than ever, LG is pushing for pushing its smart TVs for productivity and gaming. The NanoCell 90 not only supports G-Sync and FreeSync Premium from the get go but also features 120Hz native refresh rate. It also comes with reduced input lag compared to conventional TVs. A planned update in late 2021 will make this TV compatible with Stadia cloud gaming.
Besides the Nano90, LG's 2021 NanoCell TV lineup also includes a range of other models announced at CES 2021.
Compared to lower-priced 4K models in the NanoCell lineup, the Nano90 standards out with full-array LED, α7 Gen4 AI Processor 4K processor, and 120Hz native refresh rate.

rtings[1]

Reviewer score 45% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The LG NANO90 2021 is good for most uses. It performs best for watching shows or sports because it has fairly wide viewing angles. It's also good for gaming thanks to its HDMI 2.1 and VRR support, low input lag, and quick response time. Sadly, it's just okay for watching movies, both in SDR and HDR. Its IPS panel has a low contrast ratio that makes blacks look gray.
Pros
  • Outstanding reflection handling
  • Good peak brightness
  • 120Hz refresh rate
Cons
  • Mediocre contrast ratio
  • Local dimming feature crushes highlights

techradar[2]

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The 65NANO906's new backlight power management system truly transforms LG's LCD HDR fortunes. Bright, colourful HDR pictures lose precious little of their contrast and intensity when viewed from even a wide angle. Native 4K pictures look crisp and detailed - and LG's latest Cinema Clear motion option ensures that detail levels stay high even when there's a lot of motion in a 24p movie.
Pros
  • Gorgeous black levels
  • Excellent local dimming
Cons
  • Backlight issues
  • No Dolby Atmos

trustedreviews[3]

Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
LG 65NANO906 is a big TV that looks great with 4K content, promises a brilliant next-gen gaming experience and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Colour palette is wide-ranging enjoys real breadth of tonality and is convincing in every circumstance. LG does good work with motion, too, keeping edges smooth and uniform even during the most testing instances of movement. There's a reasonable depth of field to images, and picture noise is repressed zealously.
Pros
  • Excellent picture quality
  • Excellent motion-handling
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Lack of detail in deep black tones
  • No Dolby Vision
