LG G1 Gallery Design OLED
4K TVProduct Gallery
Product Overview
LG G1 is a 4K OLED TV with Gallery Design in LG's 2021 smart TV lineup. An upgrade from last year's GX, the G1 features LG's next-gen OLED evo panel as well as the latest α (Alpha) 9 Gen 4 AI processor.
Like its predecessor, the G1 comes in an ultra-thin form factor that makes it ideal for unobtrusive wall-mount. It also sports all the bells and whistles consumers have come to expect from the finest from the South Korean brand.
LG's OLED evo panel is redesigned to include an extra layer and a stronger emissive material. Together, these improvements make the panel brighter and clearer. New in 2021, the G1 can be purchased with a Gallery Stand as an alternative to wall mount.
Now more than ever, LG is pushing for pushing its OLED TVs for productivity and gaming. The G1 not only supports G-Sync and FreeSync Premium from the get go but also drives at 120Hz native refresh rate. There is also a planned update in late 2021 to make this TV compatible with Stadia cloud gaming.
Besides the Gallery Design G1, LG's 2021 OLED TV lineup also includes the standard C1 and 8K Z1 unveiled with the G1 at CES 2021 as well as B1 and A1 to be introduced later in the year.

cnet[1]
Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG G1 OLED TV measured brighter than the CX or the B9 from 2019. Engaging Boost cuts lag even further, to just under 10ms for both. Game Optimizer is best for gaming thanks to its processing but quite blue. For the best color accuracy for gaming you should adjust color temperature control.
Pros
- Accurate grayscale and color
- Accurate black levels
Cons
- No Dolby Vision or HDR10+ support
- No HDMI 2.0 support
digitaltrends[2]
Reviewer score 97% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG G1 Gallery Series produces the cleanest, most enticing imagery I've seen from a TV yet. 4K HDR content, especially on 4K Blu-ray, but on YouTube as well, looked better than I've ever seen it before. LG appears to be the only TV maker so far that offers four HDMI 2.1 ports, support for both G-Sync and FreeSync Premium.
Pros
- Outstanding picture quality
- Gorgeous design
- Excellent gaming support
Cons
- No Dolby Vision
- No HDR support
rtings[3]
Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG G1 OLED is an amazing overall TV. It delivers stunning picture quality for dark room viewing because of its near-infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity. It's also good to use in well-lit rooms for watching sports or TV shows as it has fantastic reflection handling. Unfortunately, it has the risk of permanent burn-in, so it may not be the best choice to use solely as a PC monitor.
Pros
- Near-infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity
- Wide viewing angles and wide viewing angles
- Fantastic reflection handling
Cons
- No permanent burn-in
- Doesn't get very bright in SDR
t3[4]
Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)The OLED65G1 features a refinement on the Gallery design LG introduced in 2020 with a view to creating the ultimate wall-hanging TV. It sports a slim, flat rear, and provides helpful cable channeling for its built-in connections. The sound is good enough that more casual viewers will be happy without instantly adding one of the best soundbars. The new webOS smart system has had a mixed impact on how easy the LG G1 is to use.
Pros
- Beautiful new evo panel
- Improved AI Picture Pro mode
Cons
- No stand in the box
- No Dolby Atmos
techadvisor[5]
Reviewer score 93% (normalized by Neofiliac)The G1 is available in 55-, 65- and 77in screen sizes with prices starting at just under £2,000 in the UK. The Evo panel achieves higher brightness thanks to the introduction of a brand new blue material in the OLED stack. LG has also improved its AI Picture Pro picture system, which analyses images and identifies content style in real-time.
Pros
- Gorgeous Evo panel
- Good HDR performance
Cons
- No Dolby Vision or HLG
- No HDR10+
techradar[6]
Reviewer score 92% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG G1 pushes a stunning work-of-art design ethos with its flush design that minimalists will absolutely love. The back of this TV contains four HDMI 2.1 ports and they support the 4K at 120Hz optimal for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Google Stadia is here for built-in for cloud gaming, and you get access to two smart assistants: Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Pros
- Beautiful flush design
- Fantastic HDR10+ and Dolby Vision
- Built-in wall mount
Cons
- No dedicated speakers
tomsguide[7]
Reviewer score 95% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG G1 OLED supports Dolby Atmos, which designed an immersive soundscape for both Greyhound and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. AI Acoustic Tuning uses the remote control's microphone to calibrate the sound and tailor the audio to your particular room. New to settings entirely is the Game Optimizer, which gathers all the necessary gaming settings in a single interface.
Pros
- Slim, light design
- Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support
- AI Acoustic Tuning
Cons
- Lackluster webOS interface
trustedreviews[8]
Reviewer score 93% (normalized by Neofiliac)LG’s latest processing delivers a substantial step forward when it comes to fine colour reproduction. Areas of very fine detail seem to benefit from extra local filtering and more clarity than softer background areas. Skin tones gain a touch more emphasis without becoming plasticky or exaggerated. Dynamic range seems enhanced, and shadow details look more pronounced, without either looking forced or being accompanied by near-black noise.
Pros
- Impressive picture quality
- Impressive AI Picture Pro
- Improved HDR performance
Cons
- No Dolby Atmos
whathifi[9]
Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)Upscaling of 1080p is particularly impressive, with Fargo Blu-ray being delivered with crisp definition and bags of detail. Default Natural setting is brilliant, sharpening and smoothing most motion without making things look unnatural. Dolby Atmos mode is very quiet compared to standard stereo, but the TV is also lacking in drive and dynamics, regardless of which sound mode you're in.
Pros
- Clear, direct and direct sound
- Dolby Atmos and HDR10+
- Impressive motion handling
Cons
- Lacks a Goldilocks motion setting
