Product Overview

The facelifted 3rd-generation Hyundai i30 features a new sleek design and is available with a 48-volt mild hybrid system.
On the outside, the updated i30 enjoys a wider, more modern stance with accentuated 3D pattern. New, slimmer headlights complete the front end. At the back, the bumper is updated to improve aerodynamic performance.
Now, the N Line trim is available on all body types and includes new wheel designs and updated suspension and steering in combination with 1.5T or 1.6D engines.
Focusing heavily on new technologies, the new i30 has a broad range of new safety features. The powertrain lineup is updated to include the newly-developed 1.5L engine with Dual Port Injection and a new 1.0T inline-3 engine with 48V mild hybrid technology. The 1.6D and 1.5T engines now come with 48V mild hybrid systems as standard.
For the first time, the 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) is available with 1.0T, 1.5T, and 1.6D engine options.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The Hyundai i30 Fastback N has always felt a little more relaxed than its raucous hatchback sibling. Subtle but significant differences in the software and suspension settings has given it a more rounded, mature and sophisticated character. Hyundai has introduced a raft of upgrades and tweaks to both the hatchback and Fastback versions of the i30 N.
Pros
  • Rugged, mature character
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • No automatic gearbox
  • Lack of refinement

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The new Hyundai i30 N is one of the sharpest hot hatchbacks money can buy. But it's still a Hyundai, which means it will always be very competitively priced, very well made, unusually well-equipped and come with that same appealingly long warranty. The car appears the same fundamentally on the outside but there are some subtle styling alterations around the nose, tail and along the side skirts that freshen the look rather than radically alter it. LED lights become standard plus there are new 19-inch wheels and tyres, wearing Pirelli P-Zeros.
Pros
  • Fantastic new DCT gearbox
  • Sleek looks
Cons
  • More expensive than rivals
  • No automatic gearbox
