Product Overview

Canon EOS RP is a mirrorless camera in the Canon RF-mount system. Introduced by Canon in 2019, it comes with a full-frame sensor with 26 MP (6240 x 4160) resolution and a 2.36 million-dot EVF.
The camera has a poor battery life, and a second or third battery may be needed to get you through the day. The Canon EOS RP's 5.0 fps burst rate limits its use for certain types of photography, but it is hardly something that most photographers should worry about.
The Canon EOS RP comes with a fully articulated touch display and 4779 autofocus points.

gizmodo[1]

Sentiment Score 67%
Reviewers from gizmodo have found the following***:
For $1,300, the Canon RP succeeds as an entry-level full-frame camera. The Sony is just much better at producing a pleasing image from a grainy photo than the Canon. The biggest issue in day-to-day shooting is the Canon's lack of in-camera stabilization.

Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Easy to use
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No in-camera stabilization
  • No manual controls

cameralabs[2]

Sentiment Score 74%
Reviewers from cameralabs have found the following***:
The Canon EOS RP is the most affordable new full frame camera to date, whether DSLR or mirrorless. It gives you the 26 Megapixel sensor from the 6D Mark II, delivering attractive JPEGs out-of-camera. It also has a fully-articulated touchscreen, microphone and headphone jacks, and Canon’s industry-leading dual pixel AF. It can also use Bluetooth to seamlessly receive GPS data from your phone and embed it automatically on your images as you take them if desired.

Pros
  • Fully-articulated touchscreen
  • Excellent image quality
  • Dual pixel AF
Cons
  • Lacks dual pixel autofocus
  • Lack of high-frame rates for slow motion

digitaltrends[3]

Sentiment Score 59%
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found the following***:
Low light performance is admirable, if still a smidgeon behind other full-frame cameras with similar pixel counts. Canon will undoubtedly expand its lens offerings both up and down the price ladder. The advantages of full frame aren't fully realized in the RP, due to both a small lens selection and its sensor.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Low price
  • Easy to use
  • Low-light performance
Cons
  • Limited sensor options
  • No 4K video stabilization

pcmag[4]

Sentiment Score 76%
Reviewers from pcmag have found the following***:
The EOS RP uses a fully electronic shutter in order to quickly, and silently, capture the full swath of images for stacks. It doesn't have in-body stabilization, so you'll want to use a stabilized lens for handheld video. Its image sensor may not be class-leading, but it's by no means deficient.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Fully electronic shutter
  • Fast autofocus
Cons
  • No in-body stabilization
  • Limited 4K video

rtings[5]

Sentiment Score 56%
Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The Canon EOS RP offers excellent image quality, even in low light. It can achieve fairly extended shutter speeds, allowing for complex long-exposure photos. It has an effective autofocus system that can track subjects reliably and quickly. Video quality is decently sharp and fairly low in noise whether you record in FHD or 4k.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Excellent autofocus system
  • Decently well-built and amazingly comfortable to use
  • Incredibly fast maximum shooting speed
  • Great image quality, even in dimly-lit environments
Cons
  • Short battery life
  • Very heavy crop
  • No high-speed frame rate options

t3[6]

Sentiment Score 57%
Reviewers from t3 have found the following***:
Canon EOS RP is not a camera for action-shooters, with its lukewarm offering of 5fps (dropping to 4fps with focus tracking) There's also the frustrating inability to shoot silently - which is generally a key positive of most mirrorless cameras. The body design manages to be small but still pleasant to use - with the dual dials and M.Fn button being fairly intuitive to work with.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Fantastic image quality
  • Very capable full-frame sensor
Cons
  • No silent shooting mode
  • Limited video

techradar[7]

Sentiment Score 77%
Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
The EOS RP is based around the same RF lens mount as the debut EOS R model. It accepts the four RF lenses developed for the system so far (and will support the six currently under development) Thanks to an adaptor that comes with the camera as standard, it's also possible to use an exhaustive collection of EF and EF-S optics. Driving the camera is the company's latest DIGIC 8 processing engine.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Full-frame sensor
  • Dual-mode Auto Lighting Optimizer
  • 4K video
Cons
  • Limited image stabilization
  • No Log shooting profile

digitalpicture[8]

Sentiment Score 87%
Reviewers from digitalpicture have found the following***:
Price is going to be a huge driver for Canon EOS RP sales. With its ultra-low cost, the EOSRP brings the future to a huge audience. Small size and light weight are another pair of huge attractions. The RP is a great choice for travel and other carry-all-day needs.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Fully-sized, very-comfortable grip
  • Easy-to-use RF lens mount
Cons
  • Lacks some advanced features

tomsguide[9]

Sentiment Score 70%
Reviewers from tomsguide have found the following***:
There's no in-body image stabilization and only half of the native RF lenses are image stabilized. You can shoot at 24 fps at 4K — in fact, that's the only option at this resolution. There's also a tight crop in 4K, so you can't take advantage of the full frame or wide-angle lenses.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Full-frame image quality
  • Excellent autofocus
  • Competitively priced
Cons
  • No crop factor
  • No in-body image stabilization

trustedreviews[10]

Sentiment Score 72%
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
The EOS RP uses the same sensor as the Canon EOS 6D Mark II. It shoots great JPEGs out of the camera, with the solid auto-white balance helping to produce natural-looking shots with plenty of detail. When using EF-S lenses with the adaptor, photo resolution drops to 10-megapixels, so it’s less compelling if you have a stash of those.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Small and light
  • Excellent autofocus and full-frame sensor
  • Easy to use controls
Cons
  • Limited burst shooting rate and 4K video modes
  • No slo-mo modes
