Summary

TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC doesn't come with the same refinements to the cooling system from the Founders Edition. The TUF card is reliably just behind the Turing-powered Founders Edition in almost every test. In 4K benchmarks, it falls behind in multiple titles to the supercharged $699 MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio.

Rundown

pcmag[1]

Sentiment Score[*] 82%
Reviewers from pcmag have found the following[***]:
The Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC is a fine card that meets the expectations set by Nvidia's killer Founders Edition. It's plenty fast as it comes out of the box, relative to almost anything else out there. The card's thermal performance was surprisingly chilly.

Pros[**]
  • Strong performance at 4K/60fps
  • Three-fan cooling system
  • Solid overclocking
Cons[**]
  • Not as fast as Founders Edition

techradar[2]

Sentiment Score[*] 79%
Reviewers from techradar have found the following[***]:
The Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming retails for the same $699 (£650, AU$1,399) as the Founders Edition. While it doesn't have the downright futuristic cooler design of Nvidia's own card, the cooler Asus brings to the table does a fantastic job of keeping temperatures under control. There are also three fans here, which combined with the fact that there are just 2 8-pin PCIe power connectors is one of the largest contributing factors.

Pros[**]
  • Fantastic cooling and RGB flair
  • Extremely affordable
Cons[**]
  • Only 2 8-pin PCIe power connectors

tomshardware[3]

Sentiment Score[*] 81%
Reviewers from tomshardware have found the following[***]:
The Asus RTX 3080 card is over 30% faster than the outgoing RTX 2080 Ti, it looks great, and it's quiet. The default factory overclock doesn't really make a noticeable difference, but the 2.7-slot cooler keeps the power hungry GPU running frosty. About the only item missing (for some users) is some serious RGB bling.

Pros[**]
  • Extremely quiet
  • Great thermal performance
  • Very quiet
Cons[**]
  • No NVLink connector
  • No RGB bling
