Ford's all-new 14th-gen F-150 pickup and 6th-gen Bronco two- and four-door rugged SUVs are engineered to bring enhanced off-road experience to their owners. To this end, Ford has partnered up with Telenav to offer new navigation capabilities that complement the vehicle's prowess off the beaten track.
Telenav Inc is a leading provider of connected-car and location-based services. The available hybrid navigation solution, which stores maps and continues routing if adventures take drivers out of cell coverage, is part of the SYNC 4 technology available in the newly redesigned Ford F-150 and Bronco.
Additionally, the navigation includes specialized routing options for customers who are towing a trailer or off-roading. The system guides users to routes best suited for the dimensions of their trailer to help avoid sharp turns, narrow bridges and low overpasses. Off-road enthusiasts can navigate to and on many 4X4 trails across North America, with additional trail maps to be added over time.
Off-Roading w/ 14th-gen F150 & 6th-gen Bronco
The new F-150 offers one of the highest towing capabilities and payloads of any light-duty full-size pickup, with over 12,000 pounds of maximum towing. It features Ford's EcoBoost engine and 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with a 35-kilowatt (47-horsepower) electric motor integrated into the transmission, as well as software calibrated specially for truck use, including drive modes like tow/haul mode to help customers better manage towing heavy trailers.
The new 2- and 4-door rugged Ford Bronco models are engineered with Built Wild Extreme Durability Testing, Capability and Innovative Design for segment-leading 4x4 capability, long-term off-road performance and dependability. Up to seven driver-selectable modes are offered including Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery and Sand, with Baja, Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl for off-road driving.
Segment-leading levels of off-road capability are possible thanks to Bronco’s available best-in-class 11.6-inch ground clearance, maximum 29-degree breakover angle and 37.2-degree departure angle, plus best-in-class water fording capability of up to 33.5 inches. Off-road capability is further reinforced by exposed tow hooks in the front and rear and available heavy-duty modular steel bumpers with integrated Ford Performance accessory winch mount.
