Product Overview

Skoda Octavia Mk4 Combi (chassis code NX) is a compact station wagon in production from 2019. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to its predecessor, the Mk4 has a different, though not improved exterior styling. Interestingly, VW decided to give it independent rear suspensions. At the same time, PHEV and mild hybrid drivetrains became more readily available.
Skoda has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.26 coefficient of drag to show for it. The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.
Another plus is the small 10.4m (34.1ft) turning circle.

At £24,505 in our test car's middling SE Technology trim, with a whopping 640-litre boot and plenty of rear seat space, it's family motoring nearing its best value. SE is split into various sub-categories, so you have the choice of SE, SE First Edition, SE Technology, SE L and SE L First Edition. At the top sit the vRS models. In the Technology one, you get 16in alloy wheels, 10.0in touchscreen with nav, Bluetooth, heated door mirrors and LED headlights.

The latest Skoda Octavia is a brilliant family car. However, the First Edition models were a little on the pricey side. There was always going to be better value to be found within the line-up. As a 114bhp 2.0-litre diesel in SE Technology spec, this Octavia estate represents a pretty solid entry point to the range.

Skoda Octavia Estate is bigger, posher and even more practical. New cockpit design leaves no stone - or plastic component - unturned. 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine offers stout torque of 266 lbs ft between 1700 and 2750rpm. Seven-speed dual-clutch transmission quickly and unobtrusively offers right gear.

The Skoda Octavia Estate is one of the largest load luggers you can buy, yet is sensibly priced and won't cost the Earth to run. It's in competition with estate version of other family cars such as the Seat Leon, Ford Focus, VW Golf and Vauxhall Astra. Up front you get the same distinctive grille, though it's bluffer than before and the horrible twin headlights of the old car have been scrapped for a pair of slim-line LEDs.
