Product Overview

Kia Rio Mk4 (chassis code YB) facelift is a subcompact hatchback in production from 2020. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 1.2 liters.
Compared to the Rio sedan, the hatchback has a more complete design, though it uses similarly low-grade materials. The car also lacks independent rear suspensions.
Another plus is the small 10.2m (33.5ft) turning circle.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 62% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
This is the updated version of the Rio that arrived in 2017. The range opens at around £14,000, but that's with a 1.25-litre naturally aspirated engine. At £21,000 in GT-Line S trim, the Fiesta comparison is surprisingly valid. The Rio’s handling is still about as exciting as a day in lockdown, mind you (but at least equally safe)
Pros
  • Fantastic infotainment system
  • Decent fuel economy
Cons
  • Awkward steering-wheel tugging
  • No automatic gearbox

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 56% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Rio range comprises straightforward 1, 2 and 3 specifications. Prices range from £14,000 to around £20,000. All cars come with at least air-conditioning, electric heated door mirrors, Bluetooth, auto lights and LED daytime running lights. Range-topping GT-Line S adds 17-inch alloy wheels, various sportier-looking trims.
Pros
  • Cheap to run
  • Excellent fuel economy
  • Decent standard equipment
Cons
  • No automatic transmission
  • Diesel isn’t as popular as it once was
