Product Overview

Audi A1 Sportback GB is an entry-level subcompact hatchback in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to its predecessor, the Mk2 A1 Sportback has a more mature design. Interestingly, VW did away with diesel engines for this vehicle. To compensate for the new, exceedingly lethargic drivetrain, Audi threw in a wide range of electronic nonsense.
At the same time, VW made no effort to improve the car's suspension setup.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 50% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The Audi A1 Sportback amounts to an unusual upmarket supermini. Larger dimensions and that larger interior help to make it more class-competitive for practicality. The car’s styling will endear it to some. But, even in this second-generation form, I’m not sure it stands up as a totally convincing product in its own right.
Pros
  • Sleek, refined styling
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Not quite as agile as a Mini Cooper
  • Larger interior

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 54% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Audi A1 is available as a five-door hatchback and the higher-riding Citycarver model with its SUV-lite styling. The A1 handles very competently and rides well, but it doesn't have the sporty responses of its key rival the MINI. The interior design looks very upmarket-Audi too, but closer inspection reveals very similar materials used to the much cheaper VW Polo.
Pros
  • Cheap to drive
  • Decent fuel economy
Cons
  • Not as practical as rivals
  • Not as comfortable as rivals
