Product Overview

Volvo S90 facelift is an executive sedan in production from 2020. It is available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 2.0 liters. Both manual and automatic transmissions are offered.
Compared to the pre-facelift, this facelift brought only minor cosmetic changes. One can be forgiven for not being able to tell the two apart on the road. Mechanically, no change has been made other than complying with the new Euro 6d emission standard (which does involve significant changes in the exhaust system).
Volvo has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.26 coefficient of drag to show for it.

autocar[1]

Sentiment Score 64%
Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
The S90's had a few styling tweaks for the latest model year. It's predictably roomy and retains a really impressive aura of quality. There’s just a little bit of road noise on rougher surfaces from the standard-fit 19in wheels, and the occasional out-of-town fidget.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Excellent infotainment system
  • Good-looking interior
Cons
  • Lacklustre powertrain
  • Not the most fun to drive

autoexpress[2]

Sentiment Score 77%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The S90 is a practical machine helped massively by its larger boot, which also features power closing as standard. While the S90 offers lots of standard safety features, its technology and connectivity can't compete with either of its rivals' It's fast and smooth enough, but compared with the BMW it's only slightly cheaper, not as good to drive and lacks visual appeal.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Lots of standard safety tech
  • Excellent infotainment
Cons
  • Small boot
  • Not as good to drive as rivals

autoexpress[3]

Sentiment Score 65%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The seats are among the best around, the cabins are full of premium materials and there's good space for five people. The S90's boot will hold 500 litres, while seats-up the V90 can stow 560 litres. The infotainment runs on a nine-inch tablet-style touchscreen; this can be laggy and some people won't like the fact the climate controls are contained within it. Both engines need cambelt changes, the diesels every 10 years or 90,000 miles.

Pros
  • Top-notch infotainment
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good range of engines
Cons
  • Lack of safety features

autoexpress[4]

Sentiment Score 69%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Volvo S90 is the company's best crack yet at taking on the dominant German brands in the premium executive saloon sector. The real strengths of the S90 are its cruising refinement and, as is often the case with Volvo, the amount of safety kit on board. The driving dynamics aren't on a par with the class benchmark, though.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good standard equipment
  • Decent fuel economy
Cons
  • Not as agile as rivals
  • Lack of standard equipment
