Audi R8 (Type 42) is a mid-size sports car in production from 2006 to 2012, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of V8 and V10 engines that displaced 4.2 to 5.2 liters.
The first mid-engine vehicle from Audi, the R8 was billed as the company's halo-ish car, even though the production number was unlimited and the pricing rather reasonable. As such, Audi tried to produce a high quality product as much as it can, and the R8 has proven to be a sensible premium sports car that is not expensive to run.
The R8 debuted with a dry sump-variant of the V8 found in the B7 RS 4. It was joined by a V10 FSI engine based on the one found in the Lamborghini Gallardo.
