Product Overview

Renault Megane III is an affordable compact hatchback in production from 2008 to 2015. It was available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.2 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to the Mk2 Megane, the Megane III has a more conventional styling but is not really good-looking at all. It is essentially a larger Clio in design. Renault started using CVTs, which isn't conducive to good driving characteristics or long-term reliability.
Still, the Megane doesn't use independent rear suspensions.

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
Renault's new Megane RS 265 Trophy recently smashed the Nurburgring lap record for front-wheel drive cars. Unlike previous Trophy-badged Renaults, the 265 doesn't have any trick suspension components over and above the standard Cup-chassis'd, LSD-equipped car. The 265 is brilliant to drive, but £1200 for some different rubber and an ECU remap isn't spectacular value.
Pros
  • Superb on-road performance
  • Lots of fun to drive
Cons
  • Cup suspension isn't as good as standard
  • Rear visibility could be better
