Audi S3 (Typ 8V) facelift is the performance version of the A3 compact hatchback in production from 2016 to 2018. It was powered by a single turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine that displaced 2.0 liters.

Compared to the pre-facelift model, the facelifted Mk3 S3 has a slightly more modern design and a marginally more powerful engine. Audi also upgraded the DCT to a 7-speed unit. Unfortunately, the 3-door S3 was discontinued earlier than the end of the 8V-generation Audi A3, with the 5-door Sportback living on, due to emission regulations and poor sales.

Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Audi S3 uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

Audi's S models have always offered discreet performance, and the Audi S3 is a perfect demonstration of the breed. While it packs a turbocharged punch and has tremendous quattro 4WD grip, its understated looks and grown-up driving manners mean it flies under the radar. It's not quite on a par with the best-handling cars available, but it's still pretty fun.
