Product Overview

Samyang 100mm F2.8 Macro is a manual-focus short telephoto macro lens for Canon EF-mount, Fujifilm X-mount, Micro Four Thirds-mount, Nikon F-mount, Pentax K-mount, Samsung NX-mount, Sony A-mount, and Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Samyang in 2015, it has 15 elements in 12 groups.
Manual focus may be limiting to some, but purists will find it much more engaging. There are also fewer things to go wrong on the long run. Unfortunately, Samyang has opted to omit weather sealing for this lens, so owners should pay extra attention when shooting in incremental weathers.
The 1x magnification opens up a lot of opportunity for macro shots. Manual focus can be a blessing in this case. A telephoto prime lens, the Samyang 100mm F2.8 Macro is well suited for portrait photography.

Reviewers from sonyalpha have found:
The Samyang 100mm F2.8 Macro ED UMC is a manual macro lens that can give good results but with many compromises. The build construction is good, made of high quality plastic. There is an aperture ring with click, and a rubbered focus ring, that can be operated smoothly with stops for min focusing distance and infinity.
