Fujifilm XF 8-16mm F2.8 R LM WR is an ultra wide-angle zoom lens for Fujifilm X-mount. It covers the APS-C image circle. Introduced by Fujifilm in 2018, it has 20 elements in 13 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Fujifilm XF 8-16mm F2.8 R LM WR is externally-zooming. For incremental weathers, Fujifilm is kind enough to include weather sealing. On the lens barrel, one can find a physical aperture ring. Those who wish to focus manually can have the best of both worlds (with the usual caveats).
The f/2.8 maximum aperture is quite bright for an ultra wide-angle zoom lens and can be quite valuable for night photography. During daytime, it can offer a unique perspective for landscape photography as well. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.
Some photographers may be disappointed by the fact that the lens does not accept front screw-on filters.

The XF 8-16mm f2.8 brings truly high-performance ultra-wide angle photography to Fujifilm’s X-series. The older XF 10-24mm f4 may be impressive for its size, weight and price, but needed to be stopped-down for sharp corners and lacked both the brighter aperture and weather-sealing demanded by some photographers. The XF 7-14mm f3.5-5.6-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-22-23-24-25-26-28-29-30-31-32-33-34-36-37-38-39-40-41-42-44-45-46-47-48-49-50-51-52-53-54-55-56-58-59-60-61-62-63-64-65-66-67-68-69-70-71-72-73-74-75-76-78-79-80-81-82-83-84-85-86-87-88-89-90-91-92-93-94-95-96-97-98-100-104-101-102-103-104. The optical design employs 20 elements in 13 groups, including four aspherical elements, three ED elements and three super ED elements. Focusing is performed by linear motors, the closest focusing distance is 25cm and there's nine aperture blades.
