Product Overview

Audi Q5 Sportback (FY) is a compact crossover in production from 2020. It is available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
It is the latest addition to Audi's "coupe" crossover lineup. Based on the 2nd-gen Q5 (FY, Typ 80A) compact crossover, the Q5 Sportback caters to the recent trend of customer demand for hunchback crossovers. Unfortunately, this makes it uglier and less practical than the already nonsensical Q5.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Audi Q5 Sportback comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 55% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
Confirmed so far is only a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 201bhp, badged 40 TDI – the model that’s expected to account of the majority of British sales. It features a new twin-dosing exhaust with two catalytic converters and an Adblue injection system that are together claimed to dramatically reduce NOx emissions. The steering, while quite direct in its action, has a synthetic feel and is light in weight.
Pros
  • Powerful engines
  • Good ride quality
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Lack of standard equipment

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Audi Q5 Sportback is the latest model to join the Q5 line-up. The cabin is identical to the standard Q5, with the exception of the touchscreen infotainment system. The new roof line has compromised headroom, but only the very tallest passengers will notice the 17mm height reduction. From launch there will be a choice of one petrol and one diesel, with two plug-in hybrids and the high performance SQ5 TDI.
Pros
  • Class-leading standard equipment
  • Excellent infotainment system
Cons
  • Alternatives are more fun to drive
  • More expensive than the standard Q5

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 58% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The new Q5 Sportback is a pleasantly homogenous, accessible and interactive piece of kit. Supportive, Yes. Schoolmasterly, No. Dynamically, the four rings are right up there with the blue-and-white roundel and the three-pointed star, but ticking all the relevant boxes is going to cost you. The petrol-fed SQ5 offered in the US is unfortunately not an option for Europe.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Fantastic infotainment system
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • No PHEV option in the US

carwow[4]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carwow have found:
The new Audi Q5 Sportback is an SUV for people who don't want to look like they've bought an SUV, so it has a seriously rakish profile, like the BMW X4. It's Audi's third coupe-styled SUV after the Q3 Sportback and Q8. From the front, it only looks subtly different to the standard Q5. But you'll see a much bigger difference from the side. The new car will go on sale first with a pair of 2.0-litre engines – a 204hp 40 TFSI petrol and 204 horsepower 40 TDI diesel.
Pros
  • Sleek looks
  • Improved infotainment system
Cons
  • More expensive than the standard Q5
