Product Overview

Fujifilm GFX100S is the latest variant of Fuji's GFX-series medium format mirrorless camera. In a compact body, it packs a 102MP color sensor about 1.7 times the size of full-frame, marrying image quality with reasonable portability.
Despite weighing just 900g, the GFX100S features 6-stops of five-axis image stabilization. This new combination makes it easy for photographers to hand-hold in more scenarios, opening the door to broader applications outside the studio.
Fujifilm also improved the GFX100S's autofocus and improved its video recording capabilities, including the support of 4K 10-bit 4:2:0 internal recording and 10-bit 4:2:2 via HDMI. It is safe to say that the GFX100S is the most usable version of this (relatively) affordable medium format series yet.

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The GFX 100S is Fujifilm’s most compelling digital medium format camera to date. Like the model before it, the 100S delivers hugely detailed images with the out-of-camera quality we’ve come to expect. It also has modern autofocus and built-in stabilisation that makes the camera handle like a more nimble smaller format. While the price clearly ranks it as an expensive camera, it's a relative bargain in the medium format World.
Pros
  • Superb out-of-camera image quality
  • Excellent autofocus
  • Built-in stabilisation
Cons
  • Not as fast as some full-frame full-framers

Reviewers from dpreview have found:
The GFX 100S is capable of producing the best image quality under $10,000. The reduced size of the body is likely to be more of a benefit to many photographers than the reduction of battery life. The slower autofocus means it's unlikely to be many wedding shooter's only camera, but it'll do group shots or posed images extremely well.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality over full-frame
  • Fast autofocus
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Lack of focus tracking and eye-detection features
  • No dynamic range

pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The GFX100S sports a very capable JPG engine that's built around a number of film simulation modes. In-camera development tools are available to try out any look with a Raw file. The video mode supports all of the GFX's film look modes, a plus for creators who want to match the look of stills and movies.
Pros
  • Stabilized sensor
  • 4K video recording
  • 3:2 aspect ratio
  • In-camera autofocus
Cons
  • No IBIS or video stabilization
  • No built-in stabilization

techradar[4]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
Fujifilm's GFX100S is a compelling alternative to high-end full-frame mirrorless cameras. Despite the lower resolution EVF, it's comparable to several mirrorless alternatives. For a medium format camera, the autofocus is pretty snappy. The camera's metering system works admirably.
Pros
  • Super-fast autofocus
  • Incredible dynamic range
  • Superb battery life
Cons
  • No SD card slot
  • No telephoto lens

trustedreviews[5]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
Fujifilm GFX100S is one of the easiest medium-format cameras to live with. Screen is bright, detailed and can be tilted upwards (about 90 degrees), downwards (about 45 degrees) and to the right to make it easier to see. Autofocus is fast and accurate enough to capture on-the-move subjects, with effective tracking and face/eye detection. Built-in image stabilisation turns the camera into almost a point-and-shoot medium- format.
Pros
  • Incredible image quality
  • Excellent battery life
  • Excellent image stabilisation and autofocus
Cons
  • Bulky and heavy
