Product Overview
LG UltraGear 34GN850 is a 34-inch ultrawide Nano IPS gaming monitor with 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate. It combines speed with rich color gamut and high dynamic range to produce an immersive visual experience.
Similar to the flagship 38GN950, the 34GN850 offers 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space while offering the speed never-before found in an IPS panel, thanks to LG's Nano IPS technology.
However, it drops RGB lighting and supports only VESA DisplayHDR 400 and AMD FreeSync Premium rather than HDR 600 and FreeSync Premium Pro.
The two flagship gaming monitors debuted with the 34GN850 are the 27-inch 4K 27GN950 and the 38-inch ultra-wide 38GN950.

digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG 34GN850 is great not only for immersive competitive gaming, but also for productivity. It's large, has a wide color gamut, accurate colors, and delivers a consistent, uniform, sharp image. Samsung's G7 series is the only monitor I've tested that outperforms this LG.
Pros
- High-refresh rate IPS panel
- Wide color gamut
- Excellent motion clarity
Cons
- Mediocre build quality
- No dimming zones
rtings[2]
Reviewer score 49% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG 34GN850-B is an impressive gaming monitor. It has a large high-resolution screen, superb response time, and an exceptionally low input lag. However, it's not the best choice for dark room gaming and the stand's poor ergonomics make it harder to adjust the monitor to your optimal viewing position. It gets bright enough for most rooms, but it may struggle a bit if there's a lot of sunlight.
Pros
- Large screen size and ultrawide format
- Outstanding response time and low input lag
- Excellent coverage of the Adobe RGB color space
- Wide viewing angles
- Incredibly fast response time
- Great contrast ratio
Cons
- Poor ergonomics
- No local dimming
- Only decent peak brightness
- Sub-par contrast ratio makes it less suitable for dark rooms
- Not as good as most IPS monitors
t3[3]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG UltraGear 34GN850 is an ultrawide, curved gaming monitor. It features Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync technologies, a wide colour spectrum (98 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut), and a refresh rate of up to 160Hz. Despite its size, the monitor never feels overly flashy – a hint of red plastic around the back and on the V-wing stand are the only variations on black. The monitor responds instantly to any connections you hook up, and drops to a power saving mode when there's nothing to show.
Pros
- Flexible design
- Good contrast ratio
- Good gaming performance
Cons
- Not the best for gaming
- Not the most powerful
techadvisor[4]
Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)The LG UltraGear 34GN850 is a remarkable piece of gear. It takes away the compromises that dogged gaming displays in terms of colour representation and delivers a solution that works well for both play and productivity applications. It's light, it's bright, the colours are punchy, and the refresh is fast. It also supports G-Sync and FreeSync, HDR10 and Vesa DisplayHDR 400 support.
Pros
- Bright, punchy colours
- 144Hz refresh rate
- G-Sync and FreeSync support
Cons
- No HDR10 support
- Poor contrast in low light conditions

Pros
- Gorgeous IPS panel
- 120Hz refresh
