Product Overview

LG UltraGear 38GN950 is a flagship 38-inch ultrawide Nano IPS gaming monitor with 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate. It combines speed with rich color gamut and high dynamic range to produce an immersive visual experience.
Like the 38GL950 from 2019, the 38GN950 offers 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space while offering the speed never-before found in an IPS panel, thanks to LG's Nano IPS technology. It features the same Sphere Lighting 2.0 RGB lighting that syncs its RGB backlighting to the sound or video, further improving the gaming experience.
Compared to the 2019 model, the UltraGear 38GN950 elevates the HDR standard to VESA DisplayHDR 600. It also gains compatibility with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.
Two other flagship-level gaming monitors debuted with the 38GN950 are the 27-inch 4K 27GN950 and the 34-inch ultra-wide 34GN850.

Reviewer score 61% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from rtings have found:
The LG UltraGear 38GN950-B is great for gaming as it has a high refresh rate, exceptional response time, and VRR support. Its large, high-resolution screen feels immersive and provides plenty of space for multitasking, making it a good option for media consumption and productivity. Sadly, the ergonomics are somewhat limited because it doesn't swivel at all, and its sub-par contrast ratio isn't ideal for dark rooms.
    Pros
    • Large, high-resolution screen
    • Outstanding DCI P3 color gamut
    • Incredible response time
    • High pixel density
    • Excellent VRR support
    Cons
    • Sub-par contrast ratio
    • Doesn't swivel at all

The LG UltraGear 38GN950 is a fantastic gaming monitor. 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio makes games feel more cinematic. It has a 1ms response time, G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro compatibility. With DCI-P3 98% color gamut, it's a good option for photographers and video editors.
    Pros
    • Gorgeous 21:9 aspect ratio
    • Excellent image quality
    Cons
    • No HDR support

    trustedreviews[3]

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The LG’s resolution of 3840 x 1600 gives you greater vertical pixels to play with than on 1080p or 1440p panels. I found the OSD to be fast and easy to navigate, although making the menu bigger and the font smaller would have been welcome, allowing LG to cram more options onto each screen. The panel displayed 99.8% of the sRGB colour gamut with a 134% volume. If you want to get near-photo realism from your games, this is the best option.
    Pros
    • High-quality IPS panel
    • Good contrast ratio
    • Good colour accuracy
    Cons
    • Poor build quality
