Product Overview
Dell Alienware AW2721D is a high-end 27-inch gaming monitor with 1ms response time, 240Hz refresh rate, rich color gamut, high dynamic range, and G-SYNC UlTIMATE certification.
Like other premium devices from Alienware launched in 2020, the AW2721D shares the Legend design language debuted at CES 2019. This futuristic design complements the rich feature set and bleeding-edge technologies inside.
Designed to produce an immersive gaming experience, the AW2721D features edge-lit LED backlighting with local dimming, securing VESA DisplayHDR 600 capabilities. Its IPS Nano Color technology ensures 98% DCI-P3 (131% sRGB) color gamut coverage. G-SYNC support combined with 1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate eliminates visible artifacts, producing a smoothing gameplay experience.
Last but not least, the AW2721D also works as a USB hub, thanks to its four USB 3.2 downstream ports and headphone connectivity.
Other Alienware gaming monitors in the 2021 Model Year include the 144Hz 2300R-curved AW3821DW in 38-inch as well as the 320Hz AW2521H and the 240Hz AW2521HF/AW2521HFL in 25-inch.

Reviewer score 91% (normalized by Neofiliac)Alienware 27 covered 100% of the sRGB gamut and also hit some high marks in DCI-P3 at 97% coverage. In HDR, our 4K Costa Rica test footage (output at 1440p to match the monitor's native resolution) was simply jaw-dropping. With G-Sync Ultimate on board, my time in multiplayer games was filled with crispy headshots.
Pros
- Incredible color
- Fast SDR
- Excellent HDR performance
Cons
- Pricey for a 1440p monitor

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Dell AW2721D is a great monitor for mixed usage. Gamers should be pleased with its exceptional response time, incredibly low input lag, and VRR support. It also has a high resolution and wide viewing angles that are great for productivity. It has good brightness in HDR, but it has a mediocre contrast ratio and bad black uniformity.
Pros
- Outstanding response time
- Wide viewing angles
- Great ergonomics
Cons
- Mediocre reflection handling
- Bad black uniformity

Reviewer score 66% (normalized by Neofiliac)Alienware AW2721D is an excellent 27-inch HD gaming monitor. It features a top-quality IPS panel and a 240Hz refresh rate. Its closest rival is the Samsung Odyssey G7, which sees superior contrast and HDR support. However the Alienware flaunts better colour accuracy, which means it’s arguably the better option for purists.
Pros
- High-quality IPS panel
- Excellent contrast ratio
- Good colour accuracy
Cons
- Poor edge-lit dimming
- Poor HDR performance
