Product Overview
Panasonic HZ1000 4K OLED TV is essentially the entry-level HZ980 with a swivel stand. Like other smart TVs in Panasonic's 2020 4K OLED lineup, it features the HCX PRO Intelligent Processor and supports a broad set of audio and image processing protocols such as Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and HDR10+.
New in 2020, Panasonic's OLED smart TVs also support Dolby Vision IQ. Using Dolby Vision dynamic metadata, this feature displays every detail of the content and adjusts to the brightness of the room. It also modifies the TV's settings to ensure optimal image quality.
Panasonic also markets the HZ1500, which comes with five speakers instead of two and supports 360°Soundscape. The flagship HZ2000 also features up-firing Dolby Atmos speakers.

techadvisor[1]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)The HZ1000 runs Panasonic's My Home Screen smart TV platform, now in its 5th-generation. The UI isn't as brazen as Samsung's Tizen or LG's webOS, or screen-hoggingly unsubtle as Android. You get a decent selection of streaming apps, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Britbox. Freeview Play tuner guarantees access to all the main catch-up TV services.
Pros
- Superb picture quality
- Dolby Vision IQ
- Excellent motion handling
Cons
- No Disney+
- No Dolby Atmos

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)Panasonic HZ1000 provides sumptuous image after sumptious image. Fine detail levels are exacting, clarity is excellent, and images look wonderfully naturalistic. Viewing from wide angles is superb, and you’d have to approach the set from an acute angle to notice a drop off in intensity. The 65-inch screen gives a huge scope to the framing and compositions of Ang Lee’s Hulk.
Pros
- Excellent picture quality
- Dolby Vision IQ
- Excellent motion handling
Cons
- No HDR10+ support
- No Dolby Atmos
whathifi[3]
Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Panasonic TX-55HZ1000B is an absolutely brilliant TV. It's just so balanced in its delivery: punchy but natural, sharp but not exaggerated, vibrant but controlled. Colours are rich but realistic, detail levels are excellent, and edges are supremely sharp without ever looking exaggerated. It makes the most of 4K HDR but it also does a superb job with lower resolution, SDR content. Its handling is fantastic but none of the Dolby Vision presets feels quite right.
Pros
- Punchy, punchy delivery
- Excellent motion handling
- Excellent build quality
Cons
- No Dolby Vision
