Product Overview

The Canon RF 600mm F11 IS STM lens is a lightweight fixed focal-length super-telephoto in the company's RF-mount MILC system. Like the RF 800mm F11, this lens can be collapsed and locked in place for storage and transport, making it exceptionally compact for its focal length.
Thanks to its Diffractive Optics technology, the RF 600mm F11 IS STM has few lens elements and is much more affordable. As a tradeoff, the lens lacks operable aperture blades, with the aperture fixed at f/11. The RF 600mm also features a customizable control ring common in Canon's new RF lens lineup.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Canon RF 600mm and 800mm f11 are relatively light and affordable super-telephoto lenses for the full-frame EOS R mirrorless system. Both lenses proved remarkably usable, successfully tracking birds in flight and various sports in good to fair conditions. The f11 aperture does however prove limiting at dus or in shaded areas, inevitably bumping you up to the highest sensitivities.
Pros
  • Light and compact
  • Good image quality
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • F11 aperture is limiting at dus or in shaded areas

digitalpicture[2]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitalpicture have found:
The Canon RF 600mm F11 IS STM Lens is compatible with all Canon EOS R series cameras. While this lens is not a high-end professional lens, it is hard to argue that the RF 600 is a good value. At about 5% of the price of the EF 600mm f/4L IS III, the lens creates nice imagery.
Pros
  • Compact, ultra-light, and compact
  • Excellent image stabilization
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Large lens hood
  • No lens case included

pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Canon RF 100-500mm is priced too high for many consumers to consider. It focuses close enough for 1:3 macro results. The Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary is another good performer here, and more obtainable at around $1,100. You will need to use an EF-EOS R adapter to use it with an EOS R series camera.
Pros
  • Excellent resolution from center to edge
  • Good image stabilization
  • 5 stops of correction
Cons
  • Limited focus coverage
  • No aperture mechanism
