Product Overview

The facelifted W213 / S213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans and wagons feature more dynamic design, next-generation driver assist systems, improved interior, and electrification of the powertrain.
Outside, the headlights and taillights have been redesigned, with full-LED headlamps as standard. The radiator grille and front bumper have been updated for a more athletic look. All-Terrain models now share design cues with Mercedes SUVs / crossovers. Inside, the infotainment system and seating have been upgraded.
A host of new driver assist features, including updated Active Distance, Stop-and-Go, Steering, Brake, and Blind Spot Assist, etc. are available.
For the first time, electrified models will be available for the US market. A new M254 engine with integrated starter-generator and 48-volt electrical system has been introduced together with the new E-class.

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
The E-Class has moved to Mercedes’ latest MBUX infotainment and connectivity software. The right-hand display now touch-operated via the screen itself, with a square pad to replace the rotary click wheel control. The plug-in hybrid E300e driven here is also largely unchanged from its introduction last year. Its 13.5kWh battery allows for a realistic 30-mile EV range.

Pros
  • Fast and responsive off the line
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Expensive for what’s on offer

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
Mercedes E-Class is about as traditional as you can get in the executive saloon market. Even the entry-level E 220d SE packs more standard kit than the likes of the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Jaguar XF. All versions borrow technology from the S-Class limousine, while the styling gains some influence from that model, too. There's a decent range of engines, with diesel, petrol and hybrid powertrains on offer.

Pros
  • Fastest four-cylinder engine
  • Good standard equipment
Cons
  • Expensive compared to rivals
  • Lack of standard kit

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
Mercedes has sold more than one million examples of the tenth-generation E-Class since its launch in 2016. This facelifted version has a lot riding on its shoulders from a commercial perspective. Mercedes has fiddled with the E- class' engines, safety kit and cabin, which means there are plenty of risks involved. Initial impressions are good – the updated E- Class seems to share the same comfortable ride as the outgoing car.

Pros
  • Improved infotainment
  • Improved cabin quality
Cons
  • More expensive than the outgoing car
  • Alternatives offer better fuel economy

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The E-Class saloon takes its inspiration from Mercedes' S-Class. The plug-in diesel versions appear to be a slightly stronger bet, as expert data predicts residual values of around 51-54%. The cabin feels upmarket, with the slick centre console design, metal-finish air vents and 64-colour ambient light set-up giving the car the same luxurious ambience as the brand's flagship.

Pros
  • Sleek interior
  • Good standard equipment
Cons
  • Lacklustre fuel economy
  • Lack of standard equipment

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
Even the very base E-Class now comes as standard with a pair of 10.25-inch displays under a single sheet of glass. As part of the transition to MBUX the centre console now houses a large touchpad controller instead of the scroll wheel. There's loads of room for rear passengers (though boot space in the hybrid is severely limited by the battery) Build quality is top-notch and everything feels luxurious to the touch.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Fantastic infotainment tech
  • Lots of room for rear passengers
Cons
  • Noisy petrol engine
  • Noisy diesel engine
