autocar[1]

Sentiment Score 62%
Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
If you like the bright, prominent screens and slightly chintzy details of the A-Class, you’ll like it in here. The car again does an A45 S double act in that it can be a picture of docility one moment then reveal dizzying performance and capability the next. The steering response is also clean but surprisingly meaty, the car easy to place and dry grip levels mammoth. In short, it does fun better than expected – more so in the wet.

Pros
  • Superb power and torque
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Lots of standard equipment
Cons
  • Not as practical as the A45 S
  • Alternatives are more fun to drive

Sentiment Score 58%
Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
Affalterbach hasn’t dialled up the aggression too far (that’s saved for the even more hardcore CLA 45 Shooting Brake) The 35 stands out from the standard CLA with bespoke front and rear bumpers and a pair of more purposeful tailpipes. The seven-speed gearbox is fairly responsive, downshifting far sooner than any fast VW Group ’box doing the rounds right now.

Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lacks dynamism

autocar[3]

Sentiment Score 51%
Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
The Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake is the closest thing to an A-Class estate. It eschews the square back of a regular wagon for a far more curvaceous posterior. In 2.0-litre diesel guise, the CLA 220d is impressively refined. It is however fine rather than fun; the steering is numb, body control loose at times.

Pros
  • Fun to drive
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment
  • Lack of leg room

autocar[4]

Sentiment Score 24%
Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
Once wound up above 3500rpm, the engine's refinement is poor, both in terms of noise intrusion and vibration felt through the controls. It's disappointing enough in the lower pure-petrol models but particularly frustrating in a car knocking on the door of £40,000. When little is demanded of it, the CLA is largely vice-free, with numb but predictable steering and decent grip. Press on, though, and it unravels.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent fuel economy
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Unreliable powertrain
  • Lack of refinement

autoexpress[5]

Sentiment Score 59%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Mercedes CLA rounds off the wider A-Class line-up as a stylish four-door coupe or Shooting Brake estate. The CLA 35 is more expensive and slightly better-equipped as standard than its A 35 counterpart. The 306bhp 2.0-litre engine is just as effective as in other applications – the CLA 35 feels hugely quick in everyday driving.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Fantastic infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of standard equipment

autoexpress[6]

Sentiment Score 45%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake does stand apart from anything else on offer in the small premium car market. But it suffers from a relative shortage of practicality and a bland-sounding four-cylinder engine. At this price, we'd be tempted to go for a rapid petrol BMW 5 Series Touring, which is more rewarding to drive and properly spacious.

Pros
  • Stylish looks
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lack of practicality
  • Disappointing infotainment

autoexpress[7]

Sentiment Score 76%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
Based on the A 45 hatchback, the latest CLA 45 is a more flowing shape than its predecessor, looking not unlike a shrunken CLS. Clean lines and a swooping roofline go some way to justifying the coupe tag. The car seen here has the Plus trimmings, with more aggressive front and rear splitters, a larger rear spoiler and dive planes at the edges of the front bumper.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Powerful V8
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Sloping roofline
  • Expensive compared to rivals

carmagazine[8]

Sentiment Score 82%
Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The CLA45 has a 0-62mph sprint time as short as some supercars. The 415bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder just surges without faltering right up to the redline. The steering is hyper-alert off-centre, but not twitchy at higher speeds. The boot space is 505-litres large, with a nicely square aperture for loading bulky things.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Superb all-wheel drive
  • Impressive handling
  • Superb infotainment system
Cons
  • Slightly plasticky interior
