Product Overview

Audi A6 C8 (Typ 4K) is an executive sedan in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
Like before, the C8 A6 is limited to V6 engine, which requires an additional balance shaft. Still, the diesel variant is reasonably durable.
Audi has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.26 coefficient of drag to show for it.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Audi A6 C8 comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners. This provides the best cornering performance and tunability, at the expense of cost and a little bit of durability.

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
The A6 rides beautifully on its air springs, softly bracing the body over peaks, through troughs and resisting well the sort of pitch and roll movements that can easily overwhelm a 1900kg saloon. Less convincing is the £1950 Dynamic all-wheel steering, which undoubtedly gives a very large car surprisingly agility through slower, tighter bends. The larger Audi engine is tremendously well mannered, remaining almost inaudible at a cruise.

Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Not as satisfying a steer as rivals
  • Not as comfortable as rivals

The A6 50 TFSIe starts at £52,790 for the saloon. The plug-in hybrid has a claimed 33-mile range, although you'll dip nearer to 20 in winter. The electric motor fills in the traditional turbo lag gap so you get the sense that you’re waiting more for the gearbox to catch up.

Pros
  • Powerful petrol engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Quattro isn’t exciting

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The new Audi A6 arrived in 2018 and is currently available in saloon and Avant estate guises. Range is bolstered by a toughened-up Allroad Avant and go-faster S6 and RS6 versions. As usual, the standard A6 comes in Sport, S line, Vorsprung and Black Edition trims. All cars get a 48-volt electrical system that delivers'mild hybrid' tech that allows coasting at speed to help boost fuel economy.

Pros
  • Best-in-class infotainment tech
  • Cheaper than rivals
Cons
  • Slippery ride
  • Lacklustre handling

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
Audi's latest exec looks good, drives well, and is bigger and better equipped than before. This entry-level TDI engine is also impressively economical, decently refined and the sweetest version in the new range to drive. You do sacrifice a bit of outright performance by downsizing, but you also lose a fair bit of weight – and you can detect the extra agility right from the off.

Pros
  • Sleek looks
  • Decent infotainment system
  • Lots of standard equipment
Cons
  • Not as powerful as the V6

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The A6 follows on from the A8 and A7 in featuring Audi's latest interior ambience, so buttons and knobs have been replaced by a strong, piano black horizontal panel that features an 8.8-inch infotainment screen. There's a 201bhp 2.0-litre diesel badged 40 TDI with two-wheel drive, a 12-volt mild hybrid system and a seven-speed S tronic gearbox, and a 3.0 litre V6 diesel with quattro all- wheel drive. The A6 S-line adds 19-inch wheels, LED lights and departure warning, 19mm drop in height and a 20-inch drop in ride height. An optional Technology Pack gives you a 10-inch upper touchscreen and wireless charging for £1495.

Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Excellent infotainment system
Cons
  • V6 feels heavy and cumbersome
  • Lack of four-wheel steering

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
This Audi plug-in takes the sleek and beautifully-built A6 with a 2.0-litre TFSI turbocharged petrol engine and adds an electric motor. A 14.1kWh battery pack sits under the boot floor and provides the power for the electric motor to run solo for a range of around 25 miles in the real world. But being aimed at higher-mileage company car drivers, you'll have to make use of the petrol engine on board.

Pros
  • Powerful petrol engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good range
Cons
  • Pricier than non-sporting models
  • Alternatives are more fun to drive

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The A6 is a very advanced and safe car, but the electronic safety blanket does seem a little thick at times. The A6 rides and handles very well compared to rival executive saloons. Audi's usual clean design and robust build is in evidence with the impressive Virtual Cockpit driving display still setting the standard in the class.

Pros
  • Sleek interior
  • Good standard equipment
Cons
  • Lack of muscle
  • High emissions

Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The Audi A6 has a cabin technology advantage over the E-Class. There's no MMI controller knob for this generation, replaced by an 8.6-inch secondary haptic-touch screen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, but neither technology is compatible with Audi's haptic feedback.

Pros
  • Class-leading infotainment tech
  • Vibrant interior
  • Excellent cabin tech
Cons
  • No standard driver assistance package
