Product Overview

The 8th-gen ThinkPad X1 Carbon premium, ultra-portable business laptop designed for durability and performance on the go. Powered by 10th-gen Intel Comet Lake medium-powered (U-series) CPUs, it features updated security solutions compared to its predecessor, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 but is surprisingly rather similar otherwise.
In the same generation of ThinkPad X1-series lineup, Lenovo also markets the X1 Nano, X1 Extreme Gen 3, the 2-in-1 X1 Yoga Gen 5, and the foldable X1 Fold.

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The 2020 ThinkPad X1 Carbon is only a small update compared to last year's model, but it is still a very good and lightweight business laptop. Lenovo also offers the device with a glossy 4K HDR screen, which we will have a closer look at today. The additional price for the 4K panel is around 170 Euros in Lenovo's online shop.
Pros
  • High contrast ratio (~1600:1)
  • Gorgeous 4K HDR screen
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No P3 color gamut
  • High deviations in the color cast

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon aced our most important test, exceeding the 4,000 points that indicate outstanding productivity in PCMark 10. It's not a 3D rendering or huge-dataset-gobbling workstation, but it'll rip through your most complex spreadsheets without breaking a sweat. Its slightly larger screen, slightly preferable keyboard, and HDMI port put us on Team XPS.
Pros
  • Fantastic battery life
  • Comfortable keyboard and touchpad
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3 port
