Product Overview

Odyssey G9 is Samsung's flagship 1000R-curved gaming monitor that won CES Innovation Award 2020. Measuring 49 inches, the Odyssey G9 sports a 32:9, Dual-QHD panel with 240 Hz refresh rate, low input lag, and G-SYNC / FreeSync compatibility.
Samsung has given the Odyssey G9 its coveted QLED full-array LED backlighting technology found in its high-end smart TVs that significantly improves the dynamic range and color reproduction.
For lower-priced 1000R-curved gaming monitors, Samsung also markets the Odyssey G7 (C27G75T, C32G75T) and Odyssey G5 (C27G55T, C32G55T) that progressively drops the ultra-wide aspect ratio, QLED backlighting, HDR support, and ultra-high refresh rate.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 Gaming Monitor is expensive. It offers an incredible (and huge) picture thanks to its class-leading brightness and contrast. It handles fast motion very smoothly, and while input lag is slightly higher than we like to see in a high-end gaming monitor, it's still quite low and should satisfy most gamers.

    Pros
    • Class-leading brightness and contrast
    • Superb color accuracy
    • Excellent motion handling
    Cons
    • Input lag could be lower

The Samsung Odyssey G9 is an overall good monitor. It has great gaming performance thanks to its low input lag, fast response time, and high refresh rate. Its large screen provides plenty of space to work comfortably, and it has a high pixel density to render text clearly. Unfortunately, it has sub-par ergonomics and narrow viewing angles, which isn't ideal for sharing content or playing co-op games.

Odyssey G9 is the best ultra-wide gaming monitor on the market. Its 109ppi, 5120x1440 resolution and 240Hz refresh rate will require a serious gaming machine to fulfil its potential. PBP (picture-by-picture) mode also deserves a shoutout, and should interest streamers, YouTube tutorial obsessives and anyone gaming with friends on video chat.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 is an absolute masterclass when it comes to productivity. The wide field of vision helps boost immersion in games like Assassins Creed Odyssey. Samsung has also included built-in picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture support. The 5,120 x 1,440 display resolution isn't quite 4K, but it's close.

    Pros

Odyssey G9's gaming-focused features were a delightful plus in almost every scenario. Its 1ms gray-to-gray response time kept our interactions in games snappy. The large amount of space is not universally well utilized. If you have a high-end graphics card, a spare $1,700 or so, an excess of desk space (or a sizable hunk of wall), you probably won't be disappointed.

    Pros
    • Sleek, premium design
    • Gorgeous 4K display
    • High refresh rate (up to 240 Hz)

The 49-inch diagonal dominates any desk, and it’s paired with a 32:9 aspect ratio, a vast 5120 x 1440 resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate and the 1000R curve. Build quality is rock-solid, and the panel has two DisplayPort connectors, an HDMI port and two USB 3.0 ports.
