Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Samsung Odyssey G9 Gaming Monitor is expensive. It offers an incredible (and huge) picture thanks to its class-leading brightness and contrast. It handles fast motion very smoothly, and while input lag is slightly higher than we like to see in a high-end gaming monitor, it's still quite low and should satisfy most gamers.
Pros
- Class-leading brightness and contrast
- Superb color accuracy
- Excellent motion handling
Cons
- Input lag could be lower
rtings[2]
Reviewer score 45% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Samsung Odyssey G9 is an overall good monitor. It has great gaming performance thanks to its low input lag, fast response time, and high refresh rate. Its large screen provides plenty of space to work comfortably, and it has a high pixel density to render text clearly. Unfortunately, it has sub-par ergonomics and narrow viewing angles, which isn't ideal for sharing content or playing co-op games.
Pros
- Large screen and high resolution
- Low input lag
- High pixel density
- Wide color gamut
Cons
- Sub-par viewing angles
- Mediocre contrast ratio
- Terrible local dimming feature
t3[3]
Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)Odyssey G9 is the best ultra-wide gaming monitor on the market. Its 109ppi, 5120x1440 resolution and 240Hz refresh rate will require a serious gaming machine to fulfil its potential. PBP (picture-by-picture) mode also deserves a shoutout, and should interest streamers, YouTube tutorial obsessives and anyone gaming with friends on video chat.
Pros
- G-sync and FreeSync
- Bright, vibrant screen
- Excellent PBP (picture-by-picture) mode
Cons
- Very heavy
- No built-in speakers
techradar[4]
Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Samsung Odyssey G9 is an absolute masterclass when it comes to productivity. The wide field of vision helps boost immersion in games like Assassins Creed Odyssey. Samsung has also included built-in picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture support. The 5,120 x 1,440 display resolution isn't quite 4K, but it's close.
Pros
- Gorgeous design
- Built-in picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture support
- Great value for money
Cons
- Expensive for a gaming monitor
tomsguide[5]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)Odyssey G9's gaming-focused features were a delightful plus in almost every scenario. Its 1ms gray-to-gray response time kept our interactions in games snappy. The large amount of space is not universally well utilized. If you have a high-end graphics card, a spare $1,700 or so, an excess of desk space (or a sizable hunk of wall), you probably won't be disappointed.
Pros
- Sleek, premium design
- Gorgeous 4K display
- High refresh rate (up to 240 Hz)
- Comfortable keyboard and mouse
Cons
- Expensive for what you get
tomshardware[6]
Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)The 49-Inch Odyssey G9 ships in its Custom picture mode and does not require calibration. Normal color temp is right on D65, and gamma mode 1 is perfectly in line with 2.2 spec. Color gamut accuracy is also excellent for both DCI-P3, plus sRGB if you choose the sRGB mode.
Pros
- Incredibly bright
- Excellent color gamut accuracy
- Good speakers and headphones
Cons
- No HDR
- No HDR
