Product Overview
Apple's fourth generation iPad Pro comes with a new LiDAR Scanner, 120 Hz display refresh rate, an ultra wide camera, and trackpad support in iPadOS. Some key features include:
- The A12Z Bionic chip inside the new iPad Pro is, according to Apple, faster than most laptops on the market today. Combined with the new LiDAR Scanner, the iPad Pro pushes the boundaries of virtual reality in consumer electronics.
- Upgraded displays in the 2020 iPad Pro now sport adaptable refresh rates up to 120 Hz for smooth scrolling and responsiveness.
- iPadOS 13.4 brings trackpad support to iPad to improve productivity by advanced and professional users
Alongside the new iPad, Apple also introduces the Magic Keyboard. The floating design makes the 4th gen iPad Pro a compelling substitute for laptops.

External Reviews
digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)The iPad Pro 2020 is available through Apple's own online store and retailers like Best Buy. It costs $800 for the 11-inch version with 128GB of internal storage. Choosing more memory increases the price, anywhere up to the maximum of $1,500 for the 1TB, 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Apple provides a basic 1-year warranty against manufacturing and material defects. It also covers accidental damage and the battery, and gives technical support for two years.
Pros
- Sleek design
- Long battery life
- Long-lasting battery
Cons
- Expensive for what it is
- No 5G support
laptopmag[2]
Reviewer score 95% (normalized by Neofiliac)The iPad Pro 2020 is the best tablet in the world. It has a gorgeous display, blistering speeds, fantastic speakers, an improved camera and even a new lidar sensor. It's expensive, but no other tablet — not even the Surface Pro 7 — offers the same combination of performance and endurance.
Pros
- Gorgeous display
- Fantastic battery life
- Excellent performance
Cons
- Lidar sensor isn’t as accurate as previous model
notebookcheck[3]
Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)The new Apple A12Z Bionic is the SoC of choice. Colors are reproduced very accurately, as is the grayscale. Even if multiple people view the screen from different angles, they will see the same colors without haziness or distortions. The iPad Pro 11 2020 produces slightly more heat than its predecessor, particularly on the back.
Pros
- Very fast SoC
- High-quality case
- Good battery life
- Very good display
- Fast Wi-Fi
Cons
- No support for the latest version of iPad OS
pcmag[4]
Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro will probably end up costing you more than the base $1,299 MacBook Pro. It's too big to comfortably hold in one hand while swiping with another. Apple's sandboxed file system still means that, even with the new trackpad support, the kinds of multi-application workloads that high-end professionals need to do are more awkward on an iPad.
Pros
- Lightweight, compact design
- Excellent battery life
- Improved trackpad
Cons
- Lacks multi-application file support
- No keyboard
t3[5]
Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)The iPad Pro is the best tablet on the market right now, partly thanks to its shock and awe approach. It packs in as many feature options as possible, a premium and polished body, with the option of two sizes of bright and clear screens. As a laptop replacement, it still has a way to go – for some people, it'll work like a dream right now. For others it has some hurdles you may or may not be prepared to clear.
Pros
- Incredible performance
- Very good battery life
- Great keyboard
Cons
- Only two sizes of screen
- No headphone jack
techradar[6]
Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)The iPad Pro 2020 is compatible with iPadOS 14.5, the latest version of Apple's tablet operating system. The 12.9-inch tablet comes in four storage tiers, which raise the price accordingly. Storage options run from 128GB – a new baseline that's double the 64GB starting option on the iPad Pro 2018 – through 256GB and 512GB. The Apple Pencil 2 is Apple's stylus of choice for pinpoint control.
Pros
- Sleek design
- Excellent battery life
- Excellent performance
Cons
- No microSD card slot
- No headphone jack
theverge[7]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)LIDAR on the iPad Pro seems quite advanced but built for a software future that hasn't arrived yet. Beyond home decoration, some shopping, and some games, it's also unclear whether there's a real demand for all this technology yet. The most widespread use of AR right now is face filters, and LIDAR doesn't do much for that yet.
Pros
- LIDAR is a powerful and interesting sensor
- It’s easy to learn how to use
Cons
- No Magic Keyboard
- LidAR isn’t as powerful as the iPad Air
wired[8]
Reviewer score 91% (normalized by Neofiliac)The 2020 iPad Pro includes a lidar scanner, which uses pulses of light to help the hardware better interpret depth and understand location. The new iPadOS operating system will run on iPads dating back to iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4. The cursor appears as a bubble on the home screen and over media, and as a vertical line when scrolling through text.
Pros
- Sleek, lightweight design
- Slim bezels
- Long battery life
Cons
- Only 128GB of storage
- Lidar doesn’t support portrait photos
