Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings plc is a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars. Founed in 1913, it became a marque associated with grand touring cars in the 1950s and 1960s. Most notably, James Bond drove a DB5 in the 1964 film Goldfinger.

History

Founded in 1913, Aston Martin made a number of low volume racing cars before the war broke out. After the war, the company graduated from producing racing-oriented sports cars such as the DB2 to grand touring cars such as the DB4 and the famous DB5.
Ford took a share holding in Aston Martin in 1987 and invested in it to ramp up production. The marque received record commercial success with DB7, Vanquish, and DB9 grand tourers.
During restructuring in 2007, private investors took over the company. Aston Martin entered a partnership with Daimler AG in 2013 and started using Mercedes-Benz electronics and engines in its new models. The company went publish in 2018.
